Aloha To all,
Aloha kayak Co. takes pride in its historical and cultural ties to this unique area, Kealakekua bay,Napoopoo Beach , Napoopoo Landing and the Ka'awaloa Flats adjacent the Captain Cook Monument. Owner Iwa Kalua was born and raised in Honaunau but spent majority of his childhood swimming in the waters of Kealakekua bay, surfing, swimming, playing with friends and family.
As stewards of this area we pride ourselves on being educators and docents to help keep this area pristine and as much as possible untouched.
On May,31st 2013 aloha Kayak Co. and a bunch of family volunteers went out to the Ka'awaloa Flats with members of the State archeology department and the State Historical Conservation department to clean around historical sites, clean out trash left behind by past hikers and kayaker's. We also weed-eated the area with weed-eaters and had the State educate us even further about the historical sites surrounding the Captain Cook Monument
We had a very fun and educational day while doing the clean-up at Ka'awaloa Flats We would like to thank Tracy, Mike and Bradford from the State for all your help and guidance.
And our super helpful teenage volunteers/ junior lifeguards. Taiana K.K.Tolleson (owner's daughter), Keenan Hoopii (owner's Nephew), Kiana Hoopii (owner's Niece), Kaleo Richard (Owner's Nephew), Jarren Moeoge(owner's Nephew) and Kainalu Santiago(owner's Nephew)
We have another clean-up coming up. And we are looking forward to getting back in there for this wonderful opportunity to protect and beautify this spectacular place.
