A little about our company.....

Hello, my name is Iwa K. Tolleson.  Owner and one of the local guides at Aloha Kayak Co.,  which I started in September of 1998.  I am a native Hawaiian.  I was born in Honaunau on the South Kona Coast of the Big Island.  Now I am a certified lifeguard and kayaking enthusiast.  I will share the history and hidden beauty of my island home.

I grew up on this beautiful island fishing with my dad, diving with my cousins, surfing, camping, etc. with my friends.  Growing up on an island teaches you to be self sufficient.  Almost all the activities I did as a child taught me just that.  As a teen we would go to areas off the beaten path.  Whether it was hunting, picking Opihi (Hawaiian lipids), kayaking, or off-roading with our 4x4s, we ran into some of the most beautiful areas of the island that most visitors never hear about, much less get to see.

As a young adult I worked  many different jobs trying to find a career that would I would enjoy.  I've worked in hotels, restaurants, automotive repair, auto body shops, and as a lifeguard.  In 1996 I went to work in a friend's kayak shop as a sales rep & tour guide.  I fell in love with it.  I enjoy meeting new people and sharing the rich history and beauty of our tropical home.

I have taken my knowledge as a native Hawaiian and certified life guard to devise educational maps and literature to help in informing & orientating my customers about water conditions, areas to explore, areas not to explore, sites to see, etc., which will ensure a safe,  interesting, and memorable adventure on the Kona Coast.

Remember kayaking is good for your health and is safe and fun for all ages and experience levels.  So come visit us and let my friendly staff and I, captain you on a unique eco-adventure.
