March 25, 2014, Spinner Dolphins in Kealakekua Bay

I have been on one previous excursion with Aloha Kayak and enjoyed it so much that I wanted my family and friends to see it for themselves. During Spring Break our group of 6 (4 parents and 2 18 yr. old boys) did the 5 hour snorkel trip to Kealakekua Bay. We were joined by a mum and her 6 yr. old son. Our guide, Cricket looked after all of us and ensured the trip was educational as well as entertaining. During our paddle across the bay we were enthralled to see several spinner dolphins performing for us. That was worth the price of the trip in itself! The snorkelling in Kealakekua Bay is breathtaking and the water, so far, is pristine. We were all very impressed with the knowledge of our guide regarding local history, marine life, flora and fauna but mostly we were impressed with the love and respect they have for their island. The stewardship they display is what will keep this bay alive and beautiful for future generations. It was heartbreaking to see swimmers from other boats standing on the coral and in one case, lying on it to take a selfie!!
Any chance the Hawaiian government could better control the number of visitors to Kealakekua Bay as well as the size of boat that drops them off?
Thanks Aloha Kayak - we will see you again!
