My Mom, sister, and myself did the City of Refuge kayak and snorkel tour. It was beyond amazing! Our guides John and Boo Boo were super knowledgeable in regards to the land, the ocean, and their inhabitants. They also took great care of us, as it was our first time kayaking and snorkeling. On our way to the City of Refuge, we came upon a dolphin pod!! They were swimming literally ten feet from our kayaks, it was absolutely amazing. After making it to the City of Refuge, John helped me up the side of one of the caves to cliff jump. It was my first time and I loved it! If you go on this tour, you have to take the leap! As we headed back to the bay for lunch and snorkeling, we were surprised by an adorable turtle swimming in the open water. Again, it was amazing!
After eating lunch and chatting with John and Boo Boo, we set off snorkeling. The water was so clear, we could see everything. It was a great experience being so close to the beautiful sea life. We had such a great time and learned so much about the Big Island from John and Boo Boo. Thanks guys!!
In fact, we had such a good time that we decided to join John and Boo Boo again on the Night Time Manta Ray kayak and snorkel tour later in the week. After a ten minute paddle, we jumped out of the kayaks into the bay. Within a matter of minutes we were swimming with a huge manta ray named Righty!! He swam under and around us, doing twirls and flips in the water showing us his spotted belly. He was so beautiful! When we arrived back on shore, Iwa supplied us with cookies and water to get the salt water taste out of our mouths. He was great!! We had an amazing time!! I would recommend these tours (and any other service provided by Aloha Kayak Co.). The entire crew is great and they really know their stuff!! Thank you Aloha Kayak crew for two great experiences, especially John and Boo Boo. You two made each trip beyond enjoyable!!
